Octagon

TYPE: Exhibition design
CLIENT: London & Partners/Mayor of London
LOCATION: London, UK
ROLE: research, exhibition design, curation, production
COLLABORATORS: Julie Howell, Lea Nagano, Yewon Shim

This low-cost, innovative exhibition display structure was made up of 80 identical plywood octagons components that combine to make a large, irregular and expansive whole. The structure is visually arresting, but also provides ample space for the exhibition content.

Our design meant that the arrangement was flexible, could be rapidly assembled, and could achieve significant height in the space. The shape of the components also means that it can be stored flat on pallets for future re-use.

The exhibition displayed the work of the 12 finalists of the 2016 International Student Awards. Exhibits included innovative medical devices, a robot, and a new spider silk-based polymer.
